How Much Does a High-Quality Leather Backpack Cost?
Share
I am always asked how much do quality leather products cost? Or why are high quality leather bags and backpacks so expensive? So I decided to write about the cost of high quality leather products.
Current Average Price
Handmade, full-grain leather backpacks run $900–2000. Our Zen Quality Backpacks are about $600-2000 with free worldwide shipping.
What makes it cost more?
We strive for excellence, so we use the finest materials in our backpacks.
2 mm thick Italian full-grain leather adds about $150 to the total.
Solid brass YKK zippers and hardware (not plated steel) raise the price another $80
Hand-stitched edge seams take twice the time, so labor climbs roughly $120
What keeps the price lower?
We have been making these fine leather backpacks for over 50 years, so we know what works, what doesn't work, and what is excessive.
Standard 1.2 mm thick full-grain leather still lasts decades but shaves $100 off.
Keeping The amount of compartments at a reasonable level saves about $60.
How long it lasts
With daily school or office use, the vegetable-tanned leather easily ages 15–20 years. The surface gains a natural shine, light scratches buff out with your thumb, and the cotton-lined interior stays tear-free.
The warranty
We guarantee our Randoseru for 6 years. This began years ago with the idea that our backpack should last a child through at least elementary school. In reality, these bags can last decades. Many are handed down from generation to generation. It's a precious heirloom that can stay in the family for years to come.
